Hello Ridge Hill Families:

You may now order scholastic books from scholastic.com.  Our school username is ridgehillschool and the password is read.  There are several catalogs from which to choose many great books.  In the Spring Gift catalog there is a book which would make a great graduation gift - Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss.  The Upstairs Class did a little study on Dr. Seuss and made a class book - Oh, The Places We’ll Go.

Thank you so much - all bonus points earned from book orders are put towards our Birthday Book program and new books for our school library.

News From Miss Vicki

Hello Ridge Hill Families,

Welcome Spring!!! The weather has been beautiful this week on the playground and the children have thoroughly enjoyed being outside.

I would like to take this time to remind parents of the following drop off and pick up schedules.

THE MOST IMPORTANT TIMES TO BE AWARE OF ARE THE PICK UP TIMES IN THE AFTERNOON:

IT IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL/IMPORTANT TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD ON TIME AT THE END OF THEIR SCHEDULED DAY. I HAVE NOT HAD TO BE AN ENFORCER OF THIS BUT WITH THE NICE WEATHER AND BUSY CLASS SCHEDULES HERE AT RIDGE HILL, I WOULD LIKE EVERYTHING TO RUN SMOOTH AND EASY.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING PICK UP TIME FOR THE PRESCHOOL CLASS:

Morning Pick Up Time: 12:15 sharp…
Your child will be ready to go at 12:15 with all their belongings and cubbies emptied. We will do this as an extra help for you so you have a moment to say hello to us.

Afternoon Drop Off Time for Preschool Class: 12:45-1:00

Afternoon Pick Up Time for Preschool Class: 4:15
Your child will be ready to go at 4:15 with all their belongings and cubbies emptied. We will do this as an extra help for you so you have a moment to say hello to us.

Any child who stays for a full day pick up is no later than 5:00….this is closing time. The teachers will have your child ready to go home at 5:00. I want to express how important it is to pick up by 5:00 for several reasons:
1. Teachers either have family to get home to
2. Another job to get to
3. Masters program Classes to get to
4. Simply to get home and rest for the next day as your child’s teachers has worked so hard all day to give your child a well rounded learning experience.

Late Pick up Policy is for all pick up times as stated above: $5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late to pick up. This will be for all pick up times in the school. Lunch Pick up 12:15 for preschool : 12:30 for pre-k/k , Afternoon Schedule Pick Up 4:15 preschool 4:30 pre-k/k and End of the day Pick up 5:00. This will be paid directly to Miss Vicki.

Afternoon Pick up For Morning Pre-k/Kindergarten Class:
Pick up time is at 12:30 sharp. Your child will be ready to go with all their belongings as an extra help for you. This will allow for a chance to say hello to your child’s teachers and check in on their day.

Afternoon Pick up For Afternoon Pre-k/Kindergarten Class:
Pick up time is at 4:30 sharp. Your child will be ready to go with all their belongings as an extra help to you. This will allow for a chance to say hello to your child’s teachers and check in on their day.

I sincerely appreciate all families for their support and continued help with the Ridge Hill School.

We are very excited for you all of you to see our Art Show in April as well as the incredible performance of The Wizard Of Oz in June.

I would like to also extend my gratitude to all the teachers here at RHS. The amount of effort, time, care, planning that is put forth each and everyday into their curriculum and classroom is amazing! I feel that the level of education that is being taught is miles above any other school. I am very lucky to have such dedicated teachers.

Happy Sunny Days to All,
Miss Vicki

Miss Vicki’s March News

March 02, 2010 (posted by Ridge Hill School)

Dear Ridge Hill Families,

March has come in like a Lion here at Ridge Hill School. What a way to welcome in March with Monday morning snow.

We have an exciting month planned here at RHS. The teachers will be busy each week teaching the children about famous artists that have contributed to the world of fine art. This is a terrific learning experience for your child as they will be able to use many different art media to create their own interpretation of art work.

Did you know that there are 16 weeks of school left? Amazing! We are proud to announce that our end of the year graduation will be “The Wizard of Oz.” Mr. Michael will be teaching the children the fun and happy songs to all our munchkins. How exciting for all of us! There will be no songs played or talked about that would scare the children… we know that some of you think it is scary but rest assured Mr. Michael would never do anything that was not age appproriate or fun….
We will announce the graduation dates for each class by the end of the week.

The cold/flu season is still upon us. Many children still can get the flu, throw up bug, strep throat and high fevers. It is extremely important that your child washes their hands before entering the classroom. The hand sanitizers are located outside each classroom. Please use them each day. Also, washing your hands when you get home is just as important. Along with this please be curtious to other families and do not send your child to school sick. We have some families with medical conditions that have to be alerted when we have illnesses reported at school. I appreciate all your help in support in keeping your child home if sick and remembering to wash hands. Thank you all in advance.

The playground will still be quite chilly during March and April. Please send your child to school in a warm jacket, hat and mittens. The ground will be soft so play shoes are best. We will be cleaning out the playground toys, buckets, shovels and replacing once the weather turns Spring like. Donations to our playground are always welcome.

DEPOSIT ARE DUE NO LATER THAN FRIDAY MARCH 5TH FOR NEXT YEAR. ANY DEPOSIT THAT IS RECEIVED AFTER THE 5TH OF MARCH WILL RESULT IN YOUR CHILD NOT HAVING A GUARENTEED SPOT IN OUR SCHOOL. I AM TRYING TO WRAP UP ENROLLMENT AND GET ENROLLMENT PACKETS READY TO BE SENT OUT BY JUNE 15TH THIS YEAR.

Imortant Dates for the remaining School Year:

April 5th 6-7 pm Art Show Preschool Class
April 6th 6-7 pm Art Show Pre-k/k Class

June: End of year graduation TBA

June 18th: Last Day of School

August 30th - September 3rd: Back to school open house 9-12 families visit classrooms

September 7th: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 2010

Reminder: Tuitions are due the first of the month or weekly

Thank you all for your support to our classrooms and school.

Much Appreciation,
Vicki DeFreitas
