Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten May News

Hello Families,

What a terrific and fun filled month that April has been for the upstairs class. We are watching spring pop up all around our playground. Everyone has spring fever and luckily we have had a lot of great weather to play outdoors.

Finally, April brought the long awaited arrival of Cooper Robert Driscoll. It is hard to keep Ms. Stacey away from all the children here at school, so some have been lucky enough during her visits to sneak a peek at just how adorable he is. As much as we have missed Ms.Stacey, we are so fortunate to have had our incredible and talented new teacher Ms. Jill. The children have given her such a warm welcome. They all have been extremely well adjusted too, especially for a time of transition. It feels like she has been teaching here all along.

Learning about pond life was surely exciting. We learned the life cycle of frogs. There are many interesting facts about bullfrogs you may not have known that your child can be sure to tell you all about.

We had all kinds of different predictions for our experiment of putting unblossomed Forsythia and Pussywillows in water. We planted grass seeds in a ceramic frog to chart the growth. We named him Manukuppi, which means egg shaped.

The birds nests were a big hit, it was so much fun scavenging around outside like the birds do to weave their nests in preperation to lay eggs.

There were some special Earth Day activities even though we celebrate Earth Day everyday. We decorated some brown grocery bags and returned them to Shaws for their customers to appreciate our positive messages about doing our share. A fun song along that theme was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle by Jack Johnson.
